Construction PANEL1: 14:20-15:10

Construction Panel: Discussion: Innovation and Digitalization in Construction

In the Construction section, the discussion on Innovation & Digitalization focuses on how the project “runs” digitally from BIM and CDE to the construction site: 4D/5D connection of schedule-quantities-costs, BIM-to-Field / Field-to-BIM flows, applications, as-built records and real-time control of deviations, quality and claims. Platforms that connect with classic PM/ERP systems and allow progress, productivity and rework monitoring at the workshop level are presented, along with integrated E/M and energy systems (BMS, SCADA, metering, load management and cybersecurity) up to digital twins. It examines how timely energy and E/M design feeds digital commissioning tools, remote monitoring and future operation/maintenance (O&M).

From the designers/consultants’ perspective, specification standards, deliverable structure via BEP (BIM Execution Plans), data exchange protocols (IFC, openBIM) will be presented and finally, which indicators (KPIs) are essential for the contractor, the developer and the financier, how crew productivity, downtime, safety, quality, carbon footprint are measured and how real-time dashboards influence decisions in the field. The interest is transferred to specific decision-support tools that change the way a construction project is managed and delivered.
